Our Locality and How to find usOur LocalityCooksbridge Care provides services to clients throughout South East England. The Cooksbridge Care office is in the centre of Lewes, an historic and attractive county town, dominated by its castle ruins, and famous for its November 5th Fireworks Celebrations. The river Ouse flows through the town on its way to nearby Newhaven, a ferry port with daily sailings to Dieppe in France. Lewes has direct rail connections to London (50 miles), Gatwick airport (25 miles) and to the seaside city of Brighton and Hove (8 miles). The City of Brighton and Hove is a major tourist, entertainment and educational centre. The extraordinary Royal Pavilion, with its exotic 'Indian' exterior and its lavish 'Chinese' interior, is one of Europe's finest palaces. It was commissioned by the Prince Regent, the later George IV, whose secret marriage and high-living brought the monarchy into disrepute. He also helped to make Brighton both fashionable and popular. Today, it maintains its reputation as a somewhat raffish seaside entertainment centre with many famous clubs, bars, theatres and restaurants. Once dominated by a railway works (long since closed), in recent years its economy has increasingly rested on the creative aspects of computer-related media communications, two universities, art and language schools. The city has a fast and frequent rail service to Gatwick Airport and London. There are direct rail services to Wales, Scotland and most of the southern coastal towns. Cheaper travel by coach and bus is also plentiful. There are many inexpensive bed-and-breakfast and backpacker facilities alongside traditional hotels. Both Lewes and Brighton have easy access to the South Downs, an area of 'outstanding natural beauty', recently designated to become a National Park.
